Again, not saying that the lack of productivity in the run game is all his fault (since Samples left too), but his history with us is less than stellar.

Was I impressed with our run game? No, of course not. But, after being extremely dismayed that we had done nothing to upgrade our line, we were able to win a Super Bowl with David Edwards, Brian Allen, Austin Corbet, Rob Havenstein, and Big Whitt- the only above average player. We didn't even know who our starting center was going to be until August. I felt Carbs put together salad from leaf clippings last year. If you really think another coach is going to come in here and turn this group into a bunch of road graders, color me as skeptical. When Havenstein is the best guy on your line, you have personnel issues, not coaching issues.

So, it's all water under the bridge now, I get it. McVay thinks we're better off without him, and in McVay I trust. But I was also told we were going to "focus on the run" last off-season, and that fell flat on its face before this crew got hurt. If we line last years starters up again, I don't know if it matters who the coach is. The size of the engine block matters just as much, if not more than the driver.
