Short and sweet!

Nice post Leo. I only go back to 1975 as far as watching games as a 5 year old but that is certainly a large enough window to understand exactly what you are saying.

I'm recharged and ready to roll into next season starting the second that seahawks game ended and that is a far cry from how I felt last year. I didn't want the season to start . . . . at all so i could enjoy being a champion without pressure just a bit longer.

As I approach 60 years of Ram fandom...I look back at what it has meant and transformed into all these years. If history is any indicator, my lifetime would have me expect a Super Bowl appearance once every 15 years and to win half of them. As we see various pieces fall away in one insanely bi polar year...we can only hope McVay is the true outlier that impacts a franchise like Shula, Lombardi, Noll, Landry, Walsh, Belechick, and Reid. Alas, we probably have the Vermeil Philly version. BTW, Dick Vermeil is my favorite coach of all time.

As I reminisce about the 60's and 70's, I realize how I grew in admiration of my heroes over several years because there was far less player movement. There was also far less info you could gather without taking extraordinary measures. As such, we treasured what little we had. Newspaper clippings and entire magazines were sequestered for safekeeping. Even VHS was part of a distant future.

But now I have you knuckleheads to kick around about our collective psychosis that drives our emotions and logic around a brutally visceral game that captures our imaginations and draws our indignant wrath as we imagine ourselves entitled to their domination of every opponent. It's only in my advanced years that I just savor what was certainly not a boring era. It might look like Rams circa 2003, and in some ways feel like it...but I trust McVay over Martz and Snead over EVERYONE who was in the front office "post Vermeil". And with the remaining future HOF superheroes (AD, Kupp, Wagner, Stafford, Ramsey) still listed on the roster...I put next year in my top 10 all time most interesting to see how the offseason turns.

It was less than a year ago they won it all. Knowing how long I waited to feel that again...I choose to bask a while longer. Load the wagon, no need to check on the mule. I'm a Ram fan either way.
