He's not going anywhere. He loves coaching, it's in his blood, this is what he does and has always wanted to do since he was a kid. McVay has always been aware of the stresses and strains of the profession since his grandfather was in the game and from the years Sean spent as an assistant coach. He is charismatic and well spoken so TV is definitely in his future in 10-20 years but for now, this is where he wants to be.
This year it was like the Rams were hit by an injury asteroid, it destroyed the team with the most injured players in the history of the NFL. It was tiresome and fatiguing akin to having your car break down on the way to work everyday and not having the money to fix it and just a little knowledge of how to use duct tape. Every game it was something new....and wrong. Anyone of us might tear out our hair and run out of the room screaming but he faced the grim reality that there was little he could do but would be blamed anyway. He's not used to any of this but he's young, he'll get over it and come back next year with a new focus (and hopefully a few new assistants) and put the team back into contention.
McVay is a future HoF level coach, just ask his players. And I suspect he wants that legacy more than anything else. The best place to get it is right where he is: the LA Rams.
