I think the tap water is safe if not safer than bottled water anywhere in this state. I've had chemistry professors (UCI) tell me that. Something about plastic bottled water that when it warms it releases chemicals in the plastic that are not very good for your consumption. But I can't convince my wife who says the bottled water simply tastes better. So we have all these plastic bottles around that not only take up space but are unfriendly to the environment-although I think somehow some are recyclable. To be honest I cannot tell the difference in the taste -especially if I fill up an empty plastic bottle with tap water and put it in the refrigerator.
A lot of it depends on the brand of bottled water. They are not all equal. Some bottled water IS tap water, believe it or not. Some bottled water has a bunch of chemicals and additives added to it (yuk). Some bottled water is more acidic than alkaline (I know from experience from back when I was having bladder issues). People think just because water is in a sealed bottle and you pay for it... that it's better for you somehow. If they'd just do a little research on the subject, they'd find out that bottled water is not all it's cracked up to be. The tap water in St Louis is actually very, very good water and that's what I drink. I never buy the bottled stuff.
