I would like to live in a place with 4 distinctive seasons... which would include 'some' snowfall in the winter. BUT... I would want winter to be the shortest of the seasons.
Even though I'm a hot weather person my favorite season is Autumn... I think maybe the 'colors'.. certainly that's part of the reason, and even though we don't have big color changes here. Certainly not like the New England area... which I have only briefly seen in fall... love to return one day.
The most intolerable weather related phenomena for me, even more than cold... is wind. Not that I hate wind... in fact a nice spring a summer breeze, (not a wind), is great.... but truly 'windy' days I am NOT fond of, at all.
My son lived on the coast of Oregon for a while, couple of years, and we visited often. Beautiful beyond words.. loved it there... BUT..... the wind never stopped blowing. I could never live there.
I've partaken of a few of those web thingies like "Find your perfect home"... meaning state, or country, etc... and in the USA I most often get "Flagstaff" as most suitable for me, according the criteria I give in the questionnaire anyway. But I have gotten other areas... mostly in the South... a few in the mid-west... NONE in New England and I'm not exactly sure why... but probably the long winters.
