When my kids were little, we liked to go into a Toys R Us store during the Christmas season and spend a couple of hours just gawking at toys. We didn't always buy something but it was fun to just check out the merchandise. It also gave me a chance as Mom to see what toys they were really interested in for Christmas.
I didn't realize until I just read it that F AO Shchwartz, the toy store in New York that's in the movie "Big" (where Tom Hanks plays the piano with his feet) went out of business a couple of years ago! All these iconic stores disappearing due to the growth of internet shopping is sad and alarming. I shop for some things online, too, but I also like to be able to go into a store and be able to look at certain items in person or talk to a salesperson about it before I buy. I really don't want the day to come when I have to buy EVERYthing online!
