No, that’s not it. It’s something else, it’s either he lots his burst and suddenness, or his mental approach isn’t as aggressive, just a sluggishness seems to have come over him.
Is he fine? Well, he’s fine enough to win with, but he’s not the fine old Gurley who looked destined for the HOF.
We can all have a back and forth on subjective measurements such as whether he's lost his top end speed or not but a better idea in this case is to put more weight on objective measurements.
Stats can be useful and here they tell us that he's avg. 5.3 a carry which is the highest avg. for his career. His yards per game is also the highest for his career when his overall touches are town.
So he's been just as effective as ever...objectively. If he's lost his burst then maybe he's gained some other invisible quality that our subjective eyes have been unable to identify as of yet.
I will start worrying when he looks (subjective test) like a pedestrian RB that's avg. 2.9 yards per carry (objective test).
