he was great...tough as nails.... and settled in nicely
was instrumental in getting that win.... he is the Saint killer and has been outstanding against the Saints in the last three games
he didn't play well against other tough teams Bears, Eagles, Patriots, Cowboys to a lesser extent
its not one or the other... with Goff its both
my guess is McVay kept the offensive very simple his first two years and the league figured it out... Goff is still really an extension of McVay and the talent around him.
Year 4 is coming soon.... we are looking for continued maturation. I'm not sure he gets there based on what I saw last year
I have questions
Goff had his ups and downs throughout the year, remember the Denver game? That was week 6. He had a bad game. He hit a bad rut after the bye, but he was better against the Cards and Niners. Since they were bad teams, he got no credit.
The way I see it, Goff was uneven last year, and that happens with 23 year old QBs. Goff isn't the the type of QB that makes crazy athletic plays with his feet to overcome the cerebral part of his game which isn't nearly fully developed in any 23 year old QB.
He will be more comfortable in McVay's offense this year and it will result in less ups and downs.
