As for the Peyton Manning 7th year comparison if Goff was in his 7th year but had the kind of command Manning had I probably wouldn’t have the doubts that I do now

Keep in mind that I’m not saying Jared isn’t good. What I am saying is that with his performance in those games against good to very good defenses I can’t shake his performance

It’s has left me with doubt and I’m pissed that I’m going to have to wait so long to see him and how and if he learns from this and gets better.

It just sucks for that performance to be the last taste in my mouth and in his biggest game ever. For McVay too

Hey Speed I hope you mind me jumping in here but I just wanted to add my two cents.

In the games you mentioned Goff did not play well. He was under siege the entire game in all of those games. However in the SB, I thought he battled. On that pass to Cooks that Cooks dropped (which was PI by the way), that pass was a dime...right on the money. On that other pass to Cooks in the end zone, that too was right on the money but the defender made a spectacular play.

Where I think he still needs work and hopefully this will come with more experience is that I don't think he's seeing the whole field yet. As others have mentioned, Reynolds was open a lot over the middle in the SB and Goff never saw him. He also has a tendency to hold the ball a bit too long at times which might be a product of McVays system where it's look long first. Those plays take longer to develop. His pocket presence looks great some times and not so great other times.

So, he's not a finished product. In my opinion, and I'm not trying to change yours, is that he's not there yet but I believe he's going to be great. I've seen enough of the great throws and plays from him that makes me believe that.
