He must read this board.....
Some don't want to hear about the "L" word, but it's hard to ignore the Leverage the Rams have.
If the agent wants to play hard ball, he's in for a long day.
Well to be fair. VB said Donald has leverage too. It's just that he loses it with his free agency situation (the August deadline for an accrued season). Which everyone knows---that's not news. And it's not that no one wants to listen, it's that there are honest differences of opinion on how to view all that.
VB also said he will be the highest paid defender in football and that 20 M is the starting point. He also points out that Von Miller's 2016 contract is a dated benchmark and given that 2nd contracts always go up, 20 M or north of 20 M is not the least bit unexpected (he also said that since it's 3 years later it's hard to calibrate that). Where I disagree with VB is that the 23 M range is not qb money--in 2018, 28 M is qb money.
VB is mostly good and thorough and looks at a lot of details but I don't think he nails everything.
For example it's possible to have Goff, Cooks, Peters, Gurley, and Donald all signed without destroying the cap. The math on that is fairly straightforward. I am not sure VB acknowledges that.
And VB makes a lot of the Mack thing but fwiw Demoff has said that's not an issue:

Fun time w/ @Skyeattolah today for a season ticket holder Breakfast w/ Kevin Demoff. Great guy. A few tidbits, which Kevin said weren’t secret....Said he didn’t think Khalil Mack’s contract would mean much re: Donald.
And VB doesn't mention an opt-out clause so we don't know if there's anything to that or not.
