I'd take Goff over AD. But I'd take AD over some QB's in the league.
And here's the real point on your hypothetical: if either Goff or AD suffered an early season ending injury last year, the Rams wouldn't have sniffed the playoffs. Without AD, the D probably would have been ranked somewhere between 20th and 25th.
I stand by my assertion. With the analytics article highlighting his impact, and with it being shown with the dramatic decrease in points allowed last year after week 4, I maintain that AD was
almost as important to that defense as a QB is to an offense.
He's a must have. If he isn't a must have then you're essentially saying that only QBs are must haves which pretty much makes the term meaningless.
