A team can be "predictable" and still be effective, and they can also be "unpredictable" and not be effective. For me, "predictable" means that a team tends to call the same plays for certain situations. If they execute, it's still effective while being predictable. On the other hand, if you never know what kind of play is coming in any situation, that team would be unpredictable and of course only effective if they execute.
So, you're right...it does come down to execution, but a team can still be labeled predictable or unpredictable...IMO.
