QuoteDeadpool TE 2 - I think Hopkins has a real shot to be be better than Everett. Why do you think Hopkins didn't play this season? I feel like the very best coaches find ways to get a few packages in here and there for their young guys to get in even if they aren't fully ready. A guy like him could be a real weapon in the redzone where the Rams need the most help.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRam49 I think he looked visibly uncomfortable and almost angry in a couple of spots. I'll just say what's on my mind: McVay looks like a brilliant football mind, but also like a guy that is impatient and very likely starts to grate on people. I don't think all the coaches leaving and the handling of Goff is a good look for McVay, nor do I share the opinion it was guys getting better opby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
I will take a peek for you. Pretty sure it was in a post game interview near the end of the season. Probably right after they had their famous talk that we all understand happened now :-). Update: I checked 5 post game interviews and didn't see the comment. I'll have to think some more if it was some other interview.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Very interesting interview of McVay. First Jourdan very strategically avoids trade topic at ~6:20mark https://youtu.be/VEpcnfuWxk8?t=384 McVay is clearly uncomfortable and fidgeting. He has prepared notes about all the positive things he wants to say about Goff. This is both damage control and being classy to acknowledge all that him and Goff have been through in a positive way. So based on these two sources, is there a definitive conclusion? 1. Stafford > Goff on 3rd and 8+ 2. Goff is no good on 3rd and 8+ (or at least wasn't in 2020) 3. McVay doesn't trust Goff on 3rd and 8+ 4. McVay can't play call on 3rd and 8+ Some or all of these? Zn's numbers appear to make the answer #1 but definitely not #2.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Very interesting! I'd love to see the UDFA as well because I feel that is where the Rams have continually hit gold over the years.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
To me it only makes sense to keep a draft board of position coaches by the front office. Rank coaches at every position and compare with pff unit performance for starters. Then dig a bit deeper with referrals, interviews and look at if they are in a good situation. Just relying on word of mouth is so old school now days :martiniby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Just need McVay and Stafford to get back from their Costa Rican siesta so they can start interviewing guys for the open positions.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Cowherd on youtube Cowherd: "You like Goff, I like goff were you shocked the rams moved off Jared Goff" Whitworth always very articulate and mentions the best of both Goff and Stafford.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Without Goff's ear to whisper into, McVay is all over his coaches in the offseason. Kromer said his ears tickle and he is outta here!by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotekw13 Having said that, I am ok with this trade because it's a game and it really has been boring with Goff. And McVay. Even if we had won the superbowl a couple years ago, as a grown @ss man, I could never see buying a Goff jersey. He just didn't move the needle as a fan, as good as he was for us. So whether we win more or less games with Stafford, I am happy to have a guy whoby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
He knows some version of McVay (may be a more junior version) and chose him and the rams over I think Carolina. He just came from a broken team to one that is competitive. Things that could get him to leave: 1. HC opportunity. If he gets the #1 defense again, he may deserve it. 2. Clashing with McVay (see note above) 3. Healthby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Once again she appears to have an inside source! Is she becoming the mouthpiece of the Rams organization on what they can't say publicly? Or has she cozied to someone on the staff that is willing to speak off the record?by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Definitely true what you say. Everyone will always be watching their back under McVay if that is the culture he is creating. In my coaching overview, I mention that it appears to me that the coaching culture is on the downward trend under McVay. One that started phenomenally. Just an outsiders view. 1 year wonders tend to leave a sour taste in fans mouths as there is no loyalty. Maybe he should be renamed from Staley to Ditchley :-). This time with Morris, he is going with a guy he knows well and will likely stay a while (assuming McVay wants him to). Here are my thoughts in more depth. It's rare that you get a LONG marriage that produces championships in the Not For Long league.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Agreed on timing. He definitely loves Stafford and Wentz but hates Goff. Other than those two pieces I have no information. Honestly Stafford9 came right after the trade announcement and for some reason my mind just transformed stafford9 into speedkills. Stafford9 if you have nothing to do with Speed then I apologize! Total brain fart.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Very thoughtful post. Well done Leo! This is certainly on the more optimistic end of the spectrum. I thought McVay was silly for letting Wade go (an all-time proven DC) in favor of a LB upstart position coach. Jury is not complete yet because Staley only had 1 year but that by all accounts appears to have been a major upgrade. We will see what Staley can do on his own now. Now if McVay gby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Agreed the OL was mediocre this season. Sorry my sarcasm was not apparent. It was much improved from 2019 but still left a lot to be desired. No way it was top 5. OL wasn't terrible but did get beat by teams with strong DLs. There were quite a few plays too where guys just shot up the middle untouched. That always baffled me.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Could be. Looks like he may have just wanted a break too. Keeping the son on is interesting. After he didn't renew Wade Philips he still kept his son on which I thought was a good sign.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteMamaRAMa QuoteRams43 QuoteMamaRAMa QuoteRams43 All the other departures were promotions, Mama. Therefore understandable and a feather-in-the-cap thing. But this Kromer departure is different entirely. I suspect that Kromer said or did something that the Rams just couldn’t abide and thus the ‘mutual parting of ways’. A completely different animal. Didn't the same thing happen with Fasselby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Stafford's market is well documented and far past Wentz or Goff. I thought you were saying that Goff is crap compared to Wentz and that he couldn't get what Wentz got.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
There was a source that said the Rams did get inquiries about Goff. Not to mention a lot of the media does like Goff: - Keyshawn - Orlowski, - Cowherd I've seen the videos. There was a market for Goff FOR SURE.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Add to that the Colts were the only team in the running for Wentz after Chicago backed out. Colts HC has a history with Wentz like Holmes does with Goff.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com

I have a different view. The Rams could have gotten comparable value (defined as ~150 pts on the draft board) to Wentz had they waited and traded Goff separately. Had the rams shopped around Goff, they would have definitely missed out on the Stafford auction both in time and compensation. Not to mention that Carolina had a much better package from a draft pts perspective (#8 overall 1stby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
To be fair, Goff wasn't a bust. He just didn't reach the heights the Rams want.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
We always knew he would beat out Goff one day. My hat tip to you Wentz. Today you are #1 overall and in history. Side note: double congrats on landing in Indy. This is one of the places I would have liked for Goff. He has more around him there then Detroit. He should improve significantly. If he still sucks there, stick a fork in him.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Interesting! It would help to know to what ranges they both throw to. Is one throwing deeper more often? Is one throwing to the short-range more often? For the Uncatchable balls, Stafford did that 12.9% of the time, Goff 12.3% of the time. Over the course of a season with 600 dropbacks, that's about 4 more uncatchable balls for Stafford. Stafford definitely throws deep more which mayby BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
Twitter LLamorandier This fits with what I've seen of the two. Goff is a more accurate thrower when given time. Stafford throws more wow and deep balls even when things break down. I’d love to see Wentz and Dak too. People say Dak is accurate but I think he is below Stafford by a good amount based on my eye test. Would love the data to back it up if anyone has access.by BearlyThere - RamsFootballFans.com
