They're all a gamble. AD is a sure thing. I wouldn't trade him for draft picks. This deal will get done and this issue will be practically forgotten by opening day.by Saguaro - RamsFootballFans.com
I answered your poll and question precisely because you're such a good friend, and I wanted to engage the topic.by Saguaro - RamsFootballFans.com
I think I detected some hyperbole and sarcasm in your reply, but I could be wrong. :innocent Taking you at face value, it sounds like you think receivers and oline will be pretty good. I think that's entirely possible. With Whitworth at LT, they will be stronger there than they have been since Pace retired. If Sullivan holds up and can help with line calls, and the right side is coaby Saguaro - RamsFootballFans.com
And you've posted about Goff on numerous occasions this offseason. Usually something to the effect as your post at the top of the thread - i.e. that he has no excuses. I agree. I repeat - I agree. No excuses. He needs to play much better than he did last season. But since you DID often cite other team elements in the past - elements such as the WR's or the Oline - as being necessary tby Saguaro - RamsFootballFans.com
that recent Ram QB's (cough) didn't have? A good pass-blocking oline, and accomplished veteran receivers? Are you saying that, or has your list of excuses changed?by Saguaro - RamsFootballFans.com
Your whole reply says that you should be answering the question with a Yes, and yet you say No. "No" means that the Donald pick more than makes up for the GR bust. "Yes" means that busting on the #2 pick is still a bad thing, despite getting Donald. I wonder how many of the No's are meant to be Yes's.by Saguaro - RamsFootballFans.com
That the result of the AD pick is so sublime, that anything that else that happened in that round is irrelevant. I'll take it.by Saguaro - RamsFootballFans.com
This reminds of a thread about the merits of a tv show where some guy comes on, and says "I don't watch tv! I threw my tv away years ago." Okay. Debate goes in circles? Well, maybe, but if the only discussion worth having is one where all eventually agree, then what could we talk about? I don't see a lot of bashing, just a discussion about a lost opportunity. 1. In this football era, which would be better to have, a probowl LOT, or a probowl DT? 2. The Donald pick was a good one, but not even the Rams must have known he would be this good or he would have been picked sooner. Therefore, there was an element of luck in that pick. Lucking into a gem in the middle of the first round is really nice, but does not negate the wrong call on the #2. 3by Saguaro - RamsFootballFans.com

Alex Barron. Oops Then Jason Smith. I read many times on this board "Jason Smith is no Alex Barron." Oops Then Greg Robinson. I read many times on this board "Grob is no Jason Smith". Oops Seems to be difficult for the Rams to get this position right. The remaining players from that trade that are still on the Rams are Michael Brockers and Alec Ogletree. But since the Redskins don't have RGIII at all, then I guess the Rams still "won" that trade! Sure didn't maximize the value of it, though.by Saguaro - RamsFootballFans.com
First of all, you can do whatever you want. It's a free board. But you asked for contrary opinions. I know you're familiar with the straw man concept. Just the other day I saw you call it out quite accurately. So I'm surprised you would write this: "So, we shouldn't post further about Ram matters until the games have already been played? Here are some specific examples. Sully and Whit may indeed turn out to be good signings, but they're both old. How can you possibly know yet whether they're "better than I thought"? Let's see if they can last through training camp, PS, and at least part of the season before we proclaim them good signings. Sullivan's back really hasn't been tested yet. You know that. But you wby Saguaro - RamsFootballFans.com
but without that caveat...virtually everything is in your post is jumping the gun. How can it possibly be said that player X "looks like a good signing" at this point? It can't. We haven't seen them on the field as a Ram yet. We have no results of any kind to measure these statements against. that "we already saw the best of Aaron Donald" after his rookie season? I agree with you that the Rams can't just give AD whatever he and his agent ask for. But it seems like you've been pretty hard on him from the get-go.by Saguaro - RamsFootballFans.com
Namely, that McVay's comment was a public show of consistency to the team that every job must be earned. The national writers who tried to make it out as some sort of hint of dissatisfaction with Goff were just click-baiting. And I don't respect it much.by Saguaro - RamsFootballFans.com

You saw a belly on Goff and thought of me. I resemble that remark! Lol. I don't care about the belly. Goff needs to play better. That guy from the 1st half against NO needs to show up!by Saguaro - RamsFootballFans.com
From day one McVay has said that the best players will play. He has wanted to signal that it's a new day for the Rams and that nothing will be taken for granted. Come and work for your job! To say that QB is all wrapped up would be inconsistent and send the wrong message to the rest of the team.
