That's where i'm coming from also...DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE... with a little OL thrown in....maybe using one of the 3rds.by SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
he's super against the run...just super and would keep our LBs clean.by SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
if his salary is reasonable. I would really like that for a couple reasons... 1) We can draft a few OL and sit them all year behind Whit & Saffold and learn how to be a pro. 2) Training/conditioning and getting comfortable for a year without being thrown into the fire. I think that method really helped Boom & Allen... tho I have no idea how good they are..... Boom was very sby SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
It was that Nickel/CB/kinda like a weak SS...that Nickell-Robey is playing for us now. I really wonder if a team throws some money at him cuz it's clear he's better if used differently, in another system. Another comp pick...prolly 6th or 7th...maybe a 5th if we're lucky!! btw- It'd be interesting if the Rams use some of picks (2-3rds, 4th, or 5th) as trade chips for vets with big salariesby SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
Pick up that 2020 comp 4th or 5th rounder!?! Hey, I wonder if we tag him and trade Saffold for a 2nd or 3rd rounder...or is that silly?! Would we do that with Fowler? I guess we'd only do that if we could get better than a late 3rd in comp. So, I guess, it's not a feasible strategy. So, we might let Saffold go...and then, Noteboom to LG....and draft a few new OL for depth and let tby SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
as opposed to a 2 TEs set which would usually add another LB. I'd like our offense to face Nickel sets all day...so we can run on them!!!by SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
and MVP. I love Kupp & Cooks...but Woods is so amazing and consistent and runs lovely routes!!!!by SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
maybe even one as high as #31 and plug him in at LG....next to Whit or Noteboom. The big thing to me is Sully vs Allen at Center. Does Allen have the sand in his pants to anchor the middle...or the leverage to win consistently??? That's a big thing in my mind. Noteboom should be okay and he played eamlessy in his few snaps in Whit's place during the season. 'Boom looks like a good athletby SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
Many times, a block just needs to be held for a 1second and can be executed by a WR in that capacity(1sec block) to make the play work. No need to drive/block/maul the other player back 5yds...just get in his way for an instant. That's our blocking scheme for WRs/TEs. imo McVay likes the flexibility of 3 WRs and in this system our WRs block just fine. 3 WRs also allow for more flexibility oby SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
or we trade and get a Vet like we did with Peters/Talib style. Either way, it's the biggest need on our team otherwise we waste poor AD getting triple teamed every play and no other player beating their 1-on-1s....it's sickening to waste AD that way(like wasting SJ back in the day)!!! I'd like to trade down for more picks but NOT at the cost of losing out on a premier EDGE player who may dropby SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
Man, I just don't get all the TE reasoning here....it's like arguing that we need a good FB!!! We don't use TEs in our base offense...we just don't. We used and 2nd round pick - over Kupp & JJIII in the 3rd that year...that's how much McVay liked Everett. Higbee was a 4th rounder. The Rams do not target or use them...but when they do...those two TEs deliver for the most part....with Evereby SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
from his position coach. Heck, perhaps that's why they went with DL coach Henderson... a younger more energetic & relatable guy to help with that aspect?! I dunno.by SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
couldn't agree more, I see it the same way. The Rams have the luxury of 3 very good WRs and that's why McVay went from his 2 TEs preference in Wash to 3WR scheme most of the time in LA. imo I think 3 WRs allow for more chances for "explosives"....big plays of 20yds or more... I think that's Mcvay's first choice of play....them the 2 TE sets ala Redskins is 2nd fav. heyby SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
It's a hypothesized trade moving down just 4 slots and netting us an extra 3rd rounder....super HIGH 3rd rounder btw. =================================== link This edition, a four-rounder, sees the Rams move back from No. 31 in the first round by trading down with the Raiders. Los Angeles acquires No. 35 from Oakland and picks up an extra third-rounder. =================================== Iby SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
that's why they pay you the big bucks, I suppose!! ;)by SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
Just looking at the team and where they are...and what deals the Rams "might" need to do in order to be decent/good on defense. The situation kinda strikes me as the one with Joyner last year and Tru the years before. I can see them doing that since they've used that strategy for the last 3yrs with Tru & Joyner. The Rams would tag Fowler as a OLB which would be a 15m rental. Theby SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
regardless of what the chart says. Teams have gotten ++ from trades before. There like 4-5 teams that have 2 2nd rounders this draft. Rams could kick back a late rounder to get it close...but I see a trade down... UNLESS, the Rams have a BPA they can't pass up: DL, OL, CB It's economics...and when someone wants a pick/player they will pay what they have to for him.by SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
then, I sit at #31 and take JFergusan or some EDGE they have rated highly....OR Trade down for two 2nd rounders...Snead will do what's best.by SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
will go to teh Jags. We have 2 3rds left now.by SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
However....strengthen a strength?....to a point I guess. Draft a QB at #31 if he's BPA? or RB??? or WR???...I doubt it. Our defense was very bad last year and, objectively, underachieved. We had shootout games that were unnecessary. imo Both our TEs(Higbee & Everett) are signed for next year and we have 3 very good WRs that lead our offense. when we go to 12 personnel, I think theby SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
at 10m/yr for Fowler. Maybe so...maybe not. We'll see just how much they value him and others this offseason.by SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
and musing over scenarios that could be had. Who'da thunk we'd have AD.......AND Suh...last year!!!!! ya never know with this FO.....they march to their own drums.by SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
just sayin it's a possibility....maybe the Rams tag Fowler and deal him for a 2nd rounder so that we get the pick THIS year...instead of a comp pick in 2020. He's still young and gave us fair numbers in a new system for half a season...and made some big plays on the big stage to the SB. I think teams saw that and SB team's FAs always get valued a tad higher. imo we'll see. I'm very curiousby SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
the best thing is those undersized good, smart athlete OL types are easier ti find in the draft...especially in later rounds!!! OLs from IOWA come to mind... On defense...it's kinda the same thot....with running a 3-4...I think it's easier to find EDGE guys in the 240-260 range than 300lb dancers!!!by SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
that was a real godsend...to get two starters from the 3rd round in a draft where we had no 1st or 2nd. I just hopes the Saints and Bears find no such luck!! ;)by SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
I dunno...more a means to end kinda move...to get the team in position by bridging a gap. imo I thot Fowler played hard with a good motor and is still very young in Wade's defense. I liked his game last year actually. Fowler was the best EDGE guy we had and I liked him. so, we disagree on this one, 43! ;)by SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
which is why i'd take a flyer on him as an EDGE guy opposite Fowler or a draft pick... Ebukam is backup to both sides. imoby SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
I think Barr is an EDGE diamond in the rough as a pass rusher... I'd love to sign CJMosley - IF available - as our ILB and play caller. I'd go after him hard in FA...he'd help offset the loss of Suh in the middle and CJ would help our run defense and Barr would add also. I'd tag Fowler for 1yr(like Joyner & Tru) or draft an EDGE at #31.... or .... trade down for 2-2nds and draft Winovichby SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
I would think McVay would start to hunger for some new energy from up & coming asst coaches. I'm cool with all that - sitting at the foot of Wade and learning the system...the Rams Way on defense.by SunTzu_vs_Camus - RamsFootballFans.com
