I've been saying for the past month: Goff must have a top 5 OL or the offense is doomed against the stronger and physical teams. He is horrible under pressure. Besides Goff, Josh Allen and Sam Darnold are the only other two starting QBs in the league that have a sub 60 QB Rating under pressure for the last two seasons. Those types of numbers are not sustainable for starting QBs. The Ramsby dzrams - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRams43 Well, first of all I want to thank you for posting that, max. A very enjoyable vid, indeed. But honestly, other than 2 snaps, I thought Edwards played damned well, too. I am beyond pleased with the progress of that young right side. As an aside, Mundt showed up as a VERY effective blocker in that vid. Good observation on Mundt. Quotestlramz letting JJ to conclude he was insulted. (I have a vague recollection of agreeing with JJ on this). Then Giants came in with a real offer and JJ was G.O.N.E. Reports afterwards were that the Rams offered in the $9M range. That was a good $3M or 25% below what JJ ended up signing for. Even on this board we had projected $10M+ so their offer was an insult.by dzrams - RamsFootballFans.com
Quoteno name Clearly AZ wants out. Yesterday the Cards said that they will look into any move, when asked about moving Johnson. Rams save cash and get a guy who has less injury worries, albeit a worry himself. You don't trade for an older RB. Their bodies get used quickly. RBs are most productive in their first 6 years. But see, you keep wanting to bring the pressure thing back to this year. He hasn't been good under pressure any year. His QB rating is in the same range this year as it was last year. What I'm talking about applies to every year. Brady is having an off year b/c he sucks under pressure this year. But that's an anomaly. Brady is a great example. Quotezn Quotedzrams Has anyone considered that Whit was doing badly to start the year because he was playing next to underperforming guards in NB and Demby and was trying to compensate for them? Maybe it's the bad interior OL play that dragged down the tackles? Just thinking out loud here.... That's a favorite theory of some. QuoteSpeed_Kills Goff is better than Dak this year... I mean they aren't remotely close this year but I understand why people want that to be the case I certainly wouldn't take Goff over Dak if everything else was equal Let's assume hypothetically that Goff or Dak were both playing behind a top OL like both teams had in 2017. Quotemoklerman ...But, to cheat against the 1 win Bengals? That may actually cast a new light on just how low they will go. Cheating against the 1 win Bengals can also support a narrative that they actually weren't cheating. Why risk the stiff penalties that are sure to come against such a unworthy opponent? QuoteRams43 AD’s sack numbers jumped at the same time as Ramsey’s acquisition. Hmmmmm... Coverage sacks have greatly increased. I'm not ready to call Ramsey transcendent yet but I posted the other day that he has a similar effect on a defense as AD where their impact can be seen and felt without the traditional gaudy stats. QuoteSuh-weet! QuoteRams_81 Had teams not decided to take him away he was on his way to like a 1600 yard season. Teams now have to focus so much attention on him, it is opening it up for the other players for easy catches. He is the 2nd most valuable player on the Rams behind Donald and should be in the pro bowl. It's AD. "Transcendent" is being a legit DPOY candidate when you'reby dzrams - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotesstrams we'll get behind early, but will rally to eek out the game.. kinda like we did in Dallas a couple of years ago.. seems like we were down 21-3 at one point, but rallied to win.. Quotestlramz Also shows McVay is willing to keep searching to find answers. That is why I have felt and continue to feel he is an absolutely ELITE coach. The way the reshuffled their line, the way they changed their game plans and kept mixing it up until success was found again. I love this guy! I think he's an elite coach too. QuoteSpeed_Kills their line obviously has not played well allowing that number of sacks Given several DCs have been on record saying pressures are arguably more important than sacks and lead to turnovers, my guess is teams are keeping close track of this "nuance." QuoteSpeed_Kills . I'm just making the general point that they are not everything. But they are something. We can't only look at the sack numbers though and get an accurate read on how an OL is doing. Pressures and run blocking are other huge factors.by dzrams - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotemoklerman But it is curious how the Titans have given up 49 sacks on the year and are considered a good line while the Rams have given up 19 sacks this year and are considered massively dysfunctional or whatever. One could argue that pressures allowed are more important than sacks. In fact, I've heard Wade and Greg Williams when he was the DC here say exactly that. QuoteRams43 Safe to say that Rams are in a far better place on OL than seemed two months ago. Lol. Wanna get into some possible offseason strategies? For openers, I think that we may already be looking at our starting ‘20 OL except for Big Whit. Blythe could well be our C if he can be extended reasonably. They're not a whole lot different than they were last year in the playoffs and our D matched up well against them then. Our defense is even better now. Quotestlramz He definitely says they are related. I believe what he is saying, if I may be so bold, is that (1) the arthritic condition has slowed him down (done deal) (2) a flare up will shut him down (Manageable). Is that right zn?
