His HOF site says he only played ROT: "His apprenticeship ended, however, in 1979 when he stepped in and started every game at right tackle.by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
According to Slater's Hall of Fame site Slater was the swing tackle his first 3 years. "Slater served what he called "a good apprenticeship" for three years backing up linemen Doug France and John Williams." (France was the LT and Williams was the RT in '76, '77, and '78.)by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
I couldn't find anything that specifically said he played guard, but I did find this, which surprised me: "Although used primarily as a backup and special teams player during his first three seasons, Slater became the starting right tackle in 1979." Apparently some OL took time to develop, even back in the day. There was this blurb about him playing guard in college: "He wby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
Agreed. Henderson missed 3 games due to injuries last year despite his limited use. And in the other 13 games? 39 rushes for 147 yards for a 3.8 average. That's 11.3 yards per game, and his longest run on the season was 10 yards. He also caught 4 passes for 37 yards. Now, I think Henderson has a bright future on the Rams, and whether he's the starter or not it wouldn't surprise me to seeby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com

I see that zn has started a new COVID thread so that's where I'll post from now on. But before moving on I wanted to express my sincere thanks to all who have posted in this one. I have found great value in the articles everyone has linked, but I have found greater value in the discussions that have taken place. When I read this I was concerned that Hajrullahu wasn't mentioned: "5) Kickers were put in pressure situations again during team drills, called upon to hypothetical game-winning field goals. Austin MacGinnis and Sam Sloman each converted a pair near the 40-yard line." McVay explained it in his interview: ""It's very early on. We're balancing up. Here is what is considered the Rams key losses going into the 2020 season: Brandin Cooks Clay Matthews Cory Littleton Dante Fowler Eric Weddle Greg Zuerlein Nickell Robey-Coleman Todd Gurley Of that list, how many did the Rams actually want to keep? Well, they cut Gurley, traded Cooks, released Matthews, and declined the option on NRC: clearly they would all be Rams if that's whaby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
I found an interesting study that applies the correlation between unemployment and an increase in suicides to the current pandemic. The report was written in May and considers a wide range of unemployment possibilities worldwide, with a low of 5.3 million jobs lost and a high of 24.7 million jobs lost. Using that range the report suggest that there will be somewhere between 2,135 and 9,570by AlbaNY_Ram - Bucky's Pub

I would take this a step further: "My view is that, when those who argue that "the cure is worse than the disease," they are arguing that there is (or will be) some sort of harm from public health orders/recommendations that is EQUIVALENT to the harm that we've actually seen from the coronavirus (over 171K lives reportedly lost and an unknown number of victims who are experiencingby AlbaNY_Ram - Bucky's Pub
Just a day after Cowboys All-Pro Gerald McCoy suffered a ruptured quad, putting an end to his 2020 season, Dallas released the defensive tackle via injury waiver, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. McCoy had an injury waiver on his quad in the three-year, $18.3 million contract he signed with the Cowboys in late March that stipulated if he injured it, the club could cut him. I can't find any suicide data related to the current pandemic and I don't know how to relate this to our current situation ... but I did find this tidbit in relation to the recession we recently went thru: "At least 10,000 more Americans and Europeans took their own lives from 2007 to 2010 than during the good economic times of the previous few years, the study found." 10,000 exby AlbaNY_Ram - Bucky's Pub
It looks like the link I stumbled on was written as he was transitioning from high school to college. It references Class of 2013 and shows his school as A & M Consolidated High. The article says Xavier Jones has "a good combination of size and speed". But it doesn't mention his size. Or his speed. Well, according to ESPN he's 5' 7", 183 lbs. and has a 4.66 time for the 40 yd dash. By comparison: Cam Akers: 5' 11", 212 lbs., 4.47 Darrell Henderson: 5' 8", 208 lbs., 4.49 Malcolm Brown: 5' 11", 222 lbs., 4.62by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com

I also liked NRC, but what does it say that he only got a 1 year, $1.35M contract on the open market? (p.s. The Rams would have taken a cap hit of $4.5M this year if they picked up his option. Looked at as a business decision only, it's a bad idea to pay $4.5M for a $1.35M cornerback ...)by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com

The article says "The NFL has set the salary cap floor at $175 million next year, which is $25.2 million less than this year’s cap and $35 million less than early projections based on yearly increases in the past." Notice that this compares next year's floor to this years cap? Apples and oranges. I believe the data, but there are 2 caveats: The data I've seen on Blythe for 2019 covers the whole season. He was bad at guard for sure, but better at center. I don' t know where to get the numbers, but it would be interesting to see his 2019 grades split out by position. Blythe had both shoulders operated on in the offseason. There's no way to tell how much his injuries affected his plby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
I was thinking about the rest of the OL if these guys stick as the starting 5. Boom and Evans active on gameday. Boom would be the swing tackle, Evans the swing guard, with Corbett moving to center and Evans playing LG if Bythe got hurt Shelton and Anchrum on the final 53 but inactive on gameday. I have my fingers crossed that Woods will sign for less, perhaps even a lot less, than $17M a year. He's 28 right now & he's signed thru 2020 & 2021. In 2022 he'll be 30 years old, not exactly the age that the market sees kindly. In addition, Woods' next contract will be his 3rd.
