Quotemax Understood. I’m just trying to figure out what Hav is much worse than last year. Yeah, I buy the injury theory, myself. As I said, they say it was the same in 2016. Hav is good but he does not have a lot of margin for error so if he's banged up it shows. Just my opinion.by zn - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteSpeed_Kills there are things QBs can do to compensate for a poor oline. Naw, I see that as a myth. And I mean I have seen it that way, going back years and years...so I have been in this debate for a long time. I can think of only 2 qbs who have played well behind very subpar (bottom ranked) lines and/or extensively injury decimated lines. It even got to Warner when he played behindby zn - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotemax Yes, that was a good analysis by zn. Still, I wonder if Havenstein has been hurt all year. VinnyB thought he was. Well, the thing is, I never said Hav couldn't play. He was good in 2017 and most of 2018, and I defended him in 2016, when he played hurt just like (they say) he has in 2019. My view was, though, that you teams shouldn't give big contracts/extensions to ROTs. Unlessby zn - RamsFootballFans.com
Quote. McVay got a laugh out of the comment, but the truth continues to be not that McVay is an idiot but that the Rams have been careful with Gurley because of his knee. However, McVay won’t say that, in large part because Gurley gets upset when anyone talks about his knee. So reporters don’t ask, McVay doesn’t tell, and the reality is that, with the Rams’ playoff hopes evaporating, theyby zn - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteAlbaNY_Ram Hav's salary for 2020 is $3.25M and I would hardly consider that a cap killer, even if he's the swing tackle next year. In 2021 his salary jumps to $6.75M. If they want to the Ram can cut him before the 2021 season and save $5.95M against the cap with only $1.6M in dead money. As I see it Hav's is a Ram in 2020 so it would be great if he had a bounce-back season next yearby zn - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotesix2stack Quotemoklerman Probably because a sack is definitive and a pressure isn't. You can't have a successful play on offense with a sack. You can have a successful play with the QB under pressure if the QB can mitigate the pressure. Well said, I agree. A QB has a lot to do with sacks allowed. Quote73Ram The tactic is used to manipulate others....McVay does not think of himself as an idiot....he is playing into the presses hands. I think it's just the opposite. Quotestlramz I seem to recall that When havs got the big contract he questioned the signing based on the proposition that RT are not that hard to find. Quotedzrams From what I've seen in reviewing past contracts, pedigree doesn't matter much at all and neither does how long a player has been a starter when he's been productive over multiple years. I don't see anything surprising in this in fact it's predictable. First, McVay's cute quippy "explanation" aside--c'mon this is easy to see through. TG has an arthritic knee. They wore him out last year. With major wear and tear an arthritic knee flares up (pain, swelling). A back can run with an arthritic knee IF it's managed. QuoteLMU93 The good thing for Long is he is developing into a nice CB4. And entering 2020 he is not under pressure to start. Maybe he can win the job over Hill, who knows.
