I think it's more a matter of adjusting his technique at times. In 3-LB situations where he's in the middle it is more about getting lower, his feet, etc. vs. the run-and-chase from the WLB spot. Which is what they showed Singletary focusing on with him. Not that he didn't know the defense. But I also think that given the Rams, like most teams, play so much nickel that 2/3 of the time they'reby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree about Gurley. He was too often getting hit in the backfield because of some whiff blocks and free shots. This is where Jared Cook leaving should help... Plus the improvement of Barnes, Robinson, Wichmann, etc. I've written before that simply turning many of the negative runs into 2-3 yard gains will help the offense and give Gurley a chance for a stellar season.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I think that's a good way to summarize why Keenum is still the #1 for now. He just knows more about the offense and where to go with it. Goff obviously has the better arm and passing skills but it's more about coverage recognition and knowing where to go. Goff still hesitates sometimes because he's thinking and not reacting. A natural part of the process. Keenum's work as the #1 through OTAs andby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com

I think we'll see Quinn for maybe two series and Gaines the whole first half. Just a guess. Good conditioning test in the CO altitude as well.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I think he's right that once Quinn, Ogletree and Barron are all playing together in that front seven we'll see the real Rams defense. With Westbrooks, Longacre and Seau emerging this really is the deepest defensive line the Rams have had under Fisher, and that's saying something...by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com

Thanks very much. Notice anything (good or bad) at FS? Odds Coples makes the 53? Right now I think it's about 30/70. Impressions of Wichmann and Jamon Brown at OG? Personally I think the Rams could end up with one of the most talented PS in the league. It shows the continuation of talent development the FO has done. I think Quick and Kush are goners...by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I could listen to Waufle and Willams all day... "Oh that's just Gregg, being a #@&^ again..." Classic.... Singletary commands a lot of respect. I still think Kush gets air time now because he's likely to be cut at the end. Was the thing with McRoberts' step brother mentioned anywhere before? I hadn't heard about it. I hope he makes the PS. 2016 cheat sheet: Los Angeles Rams Everything you need to know about the Los Angeles Rams entering the 2016 season, all in one place. The major theme for the Los Angeles Rams this season is change. The city they play in, the team’s future quarterback prospects, and their secondary all look entirely different than they did entering the 2015 season. It might take a year or two for the Rams’by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Just a thought.... But wondering if it's just a way to see if any interest in Mannion is drummed up. "Oh wow, look, the Rams like Mannion as a #2. Our backup (insert name here) sucks. And they have Goff so let's see what they'd take for Mannion."by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Because we're talking about the starter. At WR, LB, CB we're talking about depth. And personally at CB I really like our depth (Joyner, Sensabaugh, Roberson and Hill). I just don't want any of those guys starting the majority of the season.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree. If Keenum is the better chance to win in the short run (a few games) then he should play, period. Which is again different than some teams that took a QB #1 overall and may have been 2-14 or 1-15 would approach it. Personally I'd probably play Keenum 1/3 and Goff 2/3 this Saturday @DEN and then Goff and Mannion 50/50 in the final game @MIN. Another possibility that could play outby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
And this team doesn't even really need the dynamic big play threat on the outside catching 50 yard highlight reel passes. They just need to convert 3rd downs on par with the league average. They need guys they can count on on 3rd and 7. Last year the Rams had the 8th worst 3rd down conversion rate in the league since 1991. 3rd worst in the last 12 years. Let that sink in a bit. That's really, reaby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Whether it's a "#1 WR" like a Holt or Bruce or not, "receiving threat" is the key. Receivers the defense respects and has to account for every play. Receivers that prevent defenses loading up the box vs. the run. I do think Higbee could develop into that guy. And if he does the unpredictability of the offense goes way up, regardless of play calls. I also think Higbee and Sby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com

This time last year I thought he was going to be last in that three-way competition for the job (and probably get cut). He was steady last year and now seems to have improved. You get bumps in performance at center from Barnes, from Robinson at LT, from the 2nd year guys like Brown, Wichmann and Havenstein- and collectively the unit as a whole could gain a lot more respect this year. And Bby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com

You're right, Hill and Littleton definitely could. Both really stood out this weekend. Very athletic. At LB I like our special teams ability in Hager, Lynch, Forrest and Littleton. Just still not sure any could be counted on to step in for multiple games if needed. I could see Roberson and Hill both starting week 4 @ MIN.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Thoughts at the midway point of preseason... QB- Keenum starts week 1. I think he'll start anywhere from 1 to 4 games. If they said they're not going to hand the job to Goff they're not going to hand the job to him. He's played OK. Some ups and downs. But like a stock chart progress isn't going to be linear. It has jagged ups and downs. He's trending up. The kid is 12/21 with 4 dropped passesby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I'm with you. Gaines will start. Roberson and Hill are playing well. They essentially signed Sensabaugh to a one-year deal as insurance for Gaines. They can release Sensabaugh after this season with just a $1M cap hit.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Said many times while he got more than I anticipated from Philly I'd have gone there with him. Now the Eagles back load contracts like a lot of teams do, but as it is his cap numbers the next two years are $2.6M and $5.6M. He's worth that. Demoff probably would have evened out the years much more so years 1 and 2 would have been higher in LA but my point is I think they could have done it and kepby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I think he's in a fight for the roster and right now the odds are less than 50/50. Yes, he made 4th quarter plays- but against 3rd string OL. My (amateur) theory is they're now 5 deep at DE with Sims, Westbrooks and Longacre. Plus Seau is emerging fast at DE. So that's why he's been bumped inside. But even there he's the 5th DT behind Easley and Thomas. I think he's being kept until final cuts inby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Good point. They're giving Hager a ton of work at MLB and maybe coverage isn't a strong suit right now. Those holes could be on him as much as the FS. For all the criticisms of Laurinaitis I thought overall he was good in coverage his 7 years as a Ram.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Being a good ST player is exactly what you want from your 5th or 6th WR. Every team with good ST has 3-4 players where that's basically what they're there for. Their position is secondary. That's what I see with guys like Marquez and Reynolds. If the Rams had a young WR who was standing out on ST then I think Marquez would be in trouble but I really haven't noticed that yet.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I wouldn't be surprised if he's named ST captain. Fassel loves him. Glad to hear he's ok. That didn't seem good at the time..by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree about Sensabaugh. Not that he should start. And I don't think that's their plan. But in game 1 vs DAL Bryant made two great plays with Sensabaugh right on him. I think he was brought in to be the 4th CB and insurance for Gaines. I'm more concerned at FS. Not sure it true but the big pass plays over the middle they've allowed seem to show a glaring hole at FS.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
At CB it's always been about Gaines. They've wanted and needed him to return and be the guy he was as a rookie. I think Sensabaugh was a pure insurance signing. Just one game for Gaines so far but he already looked better than Sensabaugh or Joyner. I'm less concerned about McDonald. I like him. But I don't see anyone at FS distinguishing themselves yet.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I don't think it's a vs. thing. Not this year at least. They're going to run two-TE sets more than half the time. Both will see the field quite a bit. In slightly different roles and sometimes different situations.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Yeah I'm hoping he plays a lot in week 4 of preseason. He's opened eyes in camp and vs. Dallas but that's still a limited sample. He needs more work if he really is going to contribute this year and not just be their 6th WR and inactive weekly.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
