Football is a violent game and no teams play perfectly "clean". I remember in the 50s playing in L.A. City play off games and every team played dirty including our H.S. By "dirty" I mean taking cheap shots after a whistle, throwing punches during a gang tackle, stuff like that. But we were never coached to go out and intentionally hurt a QB or other players.
