I thought it was a truly good movie and met all my expectations. If your a F1 fan your familiar with James Hunt-a real playboy but very quick but almost too aggressive. As Lewis Hamilton the executive producer of the film said the movie was inspired by Hunt. The movie will get you as close to actually being inside a F1 race car at full speed in an out of turns , spinning out of control, accidents, etc. I listened to Pitt on a podcast who said the insurance company for the production tried to get the drivers to sign the drivers-yes real F! drivers-to agree to not go full out for fear of a massive accident -none agreed and that make the race scenes all the more genuine.
Of course the movie did have a Hollywood story to it-but that didn't distract me from the racing. Even my F1 neighbor across the street and my Gin and Tonic buddy said the movie was "very good". But maybe not quite the same caliber as "Grand Prix" where Garner plays a racer inspired by the American Dan Gurney.
Warning: The movie is very loud! I mean really loud!! Also, a suggestion: If at an IMAX theater and the movie is scheduled to begin at 3:pm go in somewhere between 3:30 and s3:45 otherwise you sit through add after add and then repeated before you even get to the pre-views which go on forever.
I loved the movie and would see it again. Real cars, real F1 drivers, real race tracks, and you will recognize many of the professionals in the movie.
