Sounds like you've got the flu. You don't usually run fevers like that with just a cold. My grandson had the flu a few weeks ago and missed about 7 days of school. He had a fever that kept spiking and going up and down the entire time, plus a really bad dry cough that eventually began to break up in his chest after about a week. We took him to the doctor to make sure it wasn't something more serious. It was some new flu strain and there was not much we could do except give him children's Tylenol and Ibuprofren to try and keep the fever down. Cough medicine didn't help at all.

Feel better soon. Being sick is no fun.
