For one thing... I rarely watch a soccer game unless it's part of the World Cup... IOW, every 4 years. That's somewhat of a give-away... but far more telling is this:
I have never once participated in a who's better Messi - Ronaldo - Pele debate. The fact that I haven't got a clue is irrelevant. Until I go all Bruce Lee with someone over 'who is the best' I'm a pretender, a wanna-be, a phony.
So it's Argentina vs France and I'm pulling for Argentina. How about you? France is the favorite. Mbappe seems unstoppable (he's a player for France).
So come Sunday afternoon I will go into soccer hibernation for 4 years.... or actually, not so much. You see - Italy did not make the World Cup this year... and that simply cannot stand. It's Christmas without eggnog. Thanksgiving without alka-selzer. A week without a Ramgator pun. I cannot say this with certainty but I'm 99% confident that should Italy fail to make the World Cup next time around they will cease to be a country. - JamesJM
