..and we have hot water!

So, for some reason the drain never did drain the water out of the tank.. To get the water out, I loosened the heating element, which screws into about a 1.5" hole in the tank.. as it loosened, water would come out, so I collected it in a VERY small tupperware dealio - couldn't get anything larger under the hole.. So, loosen it, collect half a cup of water, tighten it back up, dump water, loosen, collect, tighten, dump.. on and on and on until the water level was below the hole..

Then used a hand pump to pump out the rest of the water/sediment.. screwed in the new heating element (the old one was SPLIT down the rods, so probably the cause of the problem all along) and then wired up a new thermostat, plugged it in - it didn't blow up - and an hour later have hot water.. Yippie...

Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
