Yeah, it was my favorite job ever.....

Back then, working in a record store was COOL.. you were kinda viewed like a DJ, or something cuz you'd spin whatever felt good.. I had a couple of LPs I would put on whenever I wanted to boost sales on buys Saturdays.. Put on Quiet Riot Com on Feel the Noise and I'd pretty much empty everyone's wallet in the store..

t could be a lot of work, but I loved it.. I ordered all the import metal LPs, so alway sgot a jump on what new was coming out.. Yes sir - always got all the PRIMO posters and cardboard cutouts and stuff. my favorites with 4'x4' cardboard posters of full LP covers.. they were the exact size of two of those ceiling tiles, so we'd hang 'em in the ceiling and I'd take 'em home when we replaced them..

Before the store would open I would BLAST whatever LP I was feeling.. just full blast ll to myself.. We were in a mall, so mall cops would usually come investigate.. I'd give 'em a discount on whatever they bought so they didn't ever come down on me..

I'd do all the paperwork at the end of the day.. most people paid with money, maybe 25% with checks and every now and then a credit card.. we had the little carbon copy thing you ran across the cards.. never forget the one day I snapped a dude's card in half with it - he wasn't very happy.. then would make the deposits. on a Saturday it wasn't unusual to have $15K in a bank bag that I had to drop off in the night deposit thingy.. Every time I did it, I thought about running to Mexico with it lol

Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..

Getting sentimental.. As I started my outside Christmas lights, it took me back to 1976.
