The reason I am a Rams fan is because....While me, my Dad and my Brother put up our Christmas tree, we watched the Rams play AT Dallas in the 1976 Playoffs. I was only 9 at the time. I was SOOOOOO excited that we were FINALLY putting up our tree. YEARS later, I looked it up and that game was on the 19th of December?????? We put up our tree THAT close to Christmas?????? I do know there was friction in my family. (That's another story) I will ALWAYS remember my Brother saying......"MAN!!! The Rams colors and jerseys look SO cool!!! My Brother was 6 years older than me and I really looked up to him. So.....I remember looking at the Rams and thinking....They ARE sharp! Thing is....Me....my Dad....and my Brother rooted for the Miami Dolphins. BUUUT...There were 2-3 kids in my class who were ANNOYING Cowboys fans. I was drawn to the Rams winning. I asked my Dad if the Rams could win. I recall him saying...Rams are good but beating Dallas?? IN DALLAS??? I don't think so. I STILL (SOMEHOW) remember Haden scoring and the Rams taking the lead. I did not know any better but remember hearing my Dad and Brother chatting about the game and that the Rams JUST MIGHT pull it off?? I went from TOTAL Christmas tree mode to........THESE GUYS HAVE TO BEAT DALLAS!!!!!!! As we were juuuuuuuust about done with the tree, I DO remember the RAMS HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE 4th down stop late in the game. I also remember Rams Punter, Rusty Jackson taking a Safety as time expired. I remember walking to the TV as that happened. Being only 9, I did not grasp what was going on. When I saw the Rams celebrating as they ran off the field, I let out a "WOOO!!!! WOOOOO!!!! ALRIGHT!!!!!!!!!!" My Dad laughed and asked....You like the Rams now?? I said ....YES!!!!!! Hardly a week later, on Christmas day, I got my first Rams shirt....The SEARS catalog Sweat Shirt that I wore in my 4th grade class photo. I was 9 years old and that was Dec 1976. Well?? Here I am in November 2022!!! GOOOOO RAMS!!!! I have always given my Brother a lot of credit to me being a Rams fan. BELIEVE ME........When I was shivering those last scary and then GLORIOUS moments of the 4th qtr in Tampa last January, ALL of this flashed in my mind. I KNOW my Dad and Brother were right there with me.
