So sorry you had to go through that and bless you for helping the neighbors out the way you did.. As a kid, on two different occasions found two of my dogs dead - both hit by cars - and put them in my wagon, took them home and buried them.. Every time I drive by that house I think of them buried in the back and how traumatized I was by what had happened.. and the fact that the current owners probably have no idea they're there..
I know I've brought it up, but I have Barney, the first Beagle I had as an adult, buried in our back yard.. I planted a Cleveland Pear tree by him as a memorial to him and Lucie and Torrie, who we also lost, but are cremated on our mantle.. I also buried a bird and a squirrel I saw get run over, but Barney under the same tree..
