Field Boots....

When I was growing up every boy I knew had a pair of "Field Boots". That's what we called them, all of us. I have no idea if that was their actual name or just a nickname given to them. They also had no labels of any kind. They were solid black... no other color option, or at least no one ever bought any other color.
They were not lace-ups. Lace-ups were not, and still aren't, popular among the farm workers around here. Lace-ups aren't 'rare' but far from the type of boots preferred.
My current work boots are "Durangos". A cousin recommended them to me saying they were the most comfortable work boots made. Not sure about that but they are comfortable... but the most comfortable boots I own and the most comfortable I've EVER owned are my hunting boots by Danner. They are lace-ups, however, and thus a 'pain' to put on and take off.
I've also ALWAYS owned a pair of "Cowboy" boots.... mine are Tony Lama's. Leather. My cousin wears the Tony Lama Ostrich Skin and swears by them... I dunno myself as I've never worn Ostrich.
These days, and being retired, I don't wear boots very often... which still seems odd to me since I wore boots every day of my life when I farmed. I'd say what I wear most these days is split 50/50 between Dr. Marten's and one of the 4 or 5 pair of 'low' hiking shoes by Merrell and Vasque. I even wear them when I get all dressed up which means, for me, not wearing some type of jeans and and an unstained shirt.
