"Lonesome Dove"... which was a TV mini-series so maybe it does not qualify as a 'movie'... but then so was Open Range and Broken Trail.
But there are many old westerns, and new ones we're discussing, that I like nearly as much.
Anecdote coming up - you can skip this if you want.
Gotta friend and neighbor I've known since birth that recently came down with Parkinson's disease. It progressed extremely quickly. He first noticed symptoms last Thanksgiving and today he cannot walk.. His speech is affected as well, the shaking, all the signs of Parkingson's BUT his mind if fine. He can't get out of the house... after an active life farming. Been spending a lot of time with him... which brings me to my point:
The man LOVES, an understatement, Gene Autry.
Now as a kid I Iiked Gene but he was never a favorite of mine. Today I can watch Gene for nostalgia reasons but ehhh, not that enjoyable for me... but my friend, Francis, sits and watches and the expression of love on his face as the episodes unfold is priceless... SOOOO....
Once a week I visit and we watch an episode, maybe 2, of Gene Autry.
Not sure it gets any better than that.
