As for Silverado.... my two son-in-laws loved "Tombstone", (who doesn't?), but have never seen Silverado... which I've been pleading with them to watch for decades now. They won't do it. They tell me it could never match "Tombstone", which it doesn't.... but it's still great and they should give it a watch.

I liked the remake of True Grit. I think Jeff Bridges is a fantastic actor and did a great job... but that said no, I didn't think it matched the original.

You may be pretty semi-accurate saying no great westerns in the last 30 years...I think your choice "Open Range" is an exception, because I think it's great... and would add "Broken Trail" and also "3:10 To Yuma". May be some others but they aren't coming to mind. - JamesJM
