Just finished watching the first three episodes of Star Wars - Phantom Menace; The Clone Wars; Revenge of the Sith.. and yes.. the other movies, in chronological order, will come next.
Twas' an eye opener... and still a mystery. I remember watching those first 3 episodes, I think beginning in 1999... and liking them but feeling the saga had been diminished. I'm not sure why... my guess is that I felt they became more sinister and focused on political ideology at the expense of the characters and charm of the first 3 movies... AFTER rewatching the 1st 3 episodes I still think my original sentiment has merit BUT... the first time I saw Phantom Menace, etc., I didn't allow the saga to change, to develop. I think 'bitter' that the heart of the saga had not been lost but several diminished. BUT
Loved them this time around. It was only the second time I had seen them. Also... things make sense to me now. I had gotten lost in the saga... characters blurred, motives blurred... this rewatch brought it all into clarity.
As I begin the rewatch of the first three movies that came out.... A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, Return Of The Jedi... I'm wondering how I'll view them with special effects having advanced so drastically - but only a 'little' worried about that... For movies in general I'm very adept in taking things in context and allowing for less technologically advanced filming technique.
Ashton, my grandson watching with me, and I will probably continue tomorrow... he has a party tonight.
This is no doubt preaching to the choir but for you Star Wars fans I very much recommend re-watching them all by timeline of the sage.... very much worth it IMHO. - JamesJM
