Newer shark movies are all about Sharks and over the top effects. JAWS....... What I LOVED LOVED about that movie is how rare the shark was seen. It MADE the movie have some chemistry. IMO, what makes JAWS is NOT the shark but the AWESOME chemistry between Scheider, Dreyfus and Shaw.
Like I said in the post about my Theater rant....Hollywood is to blame for declining attendance. Movies are ALL about CGI and explosions....with "Actors" using stupid one liners in the middle of stressful situations. It was cute in the 80s but beyond cliche now.
JAWS had substance. Other, "modern" shark flicks are for people too easily entertained.
