This is happening a lot with people texting while driving. Had a co-worker who got hit from behind, the kid that hit him was doing about 30. Really messed up the guys back. He was just starting to feel better when it happened again, twice in 6 months. Now his back is in constant pain and likely will be for the rest of his life. I know three people that were hit from behind that have permanent neck and back injuries. One thing they all had in common they were in vehicles that had bench (trucks) or low bucket seats that didn't give good neck support. So if you have a head rest make sure its adjusted to the right height.
Many years ago I was hit from behind by a guy doing about 50. Luckily I was in a car with high bucket seats. I was sore for a week.
