no stand alone product available any more. So I have that decision facing me soon.

Their new cloud Quickbooks they tell you is cheaper will actually cost me more per year than I used to pay every 5 or 6 years... and you have any doubt at all they're going to brick my stand-alone version at the soonest opportunity? laughing smiley

And this is even stranger - I haven't done a LOT of research but I have done some and alternatives are few, VERY few. And NONE of them will import Quickbooks data... takes a third party service to accomplish that task. You would think software developers would be jumping on this but I think Quickbooks so dominates the genre that no one is willing to take them on, even in a subordinate capacity.

BUT... even if I convert the future couldn't be more obvious...it's ALL, (software), going to be cloud based eventually.. just too much money to be made to pass up. Quickbooks has basically quadrupled the cost of their software, the SAME software, (with only minor additions)... what software company could pass that up? Overnight you quadruple your income.

There is one small benefit... ever since software was invented people have been paying for products FAR more powerful than they actually need.... so in the various app stores there will, eventually, be available VERY toned down versions for people to buy. - JamesJM
