not even a cheap one.
I have, however, beaten a few types of 'stands' into oblivion... although not during a performance. One of the my most cherished moments was demolishing a mic stand that had given me fits for a couple of years.... I have to use a stand with a long goose neck, (obvious reasons), and this one particular stand couldn't handle it... constantly falling over during performances. Also, the gooseneck itself was low grade... so the weight of my mic would gradually make my mic sink lower and lower and I'd have constantly be adjusting it while playing.
I finally got online and got me a high grade stand... so at the next practice when our bass player asked what we could use my low quality stand for now that I didn't use it for my mic I removed it from our band trailer and proceeded to crush it into oblivion. Which brings up:
members of my band are notorious for stealing mic stands... I have to watch them with an eagle eye. Over the years I've had a few stands disappear from our band trailer and it's always the same when I asked them about them, "hmmmm, that's strange. It was here last time I checked" - JamesJM
