There were a lot of "ifs" in the author's final paragraph. I hope that they turn out to be true, but I have my doubts.
To date, Los Angeles County is showing 75% of its population as being partially vaccinated (with 67% being fully vaxxed). Numbers-wise I see that as anywheres between 1M - 2M people still unvaccinated (the % of whom have already been infected unknown). And although it appears as though Omicron will eventually overtake Delta, I'm not so sure that will happen before the end of January (but who knows). If, in fact, Delta is more severe than Omicron...it could be another tough winter for us (but, hopefully, not as bad as last year).
