I think in all my years of reading.....

the two most enjoyable times I ever had was 1st - discovering Agatha Christie, (almost Poirot exclusively), and then reading them.... day after day, never missing a day, until I had read them all.

And then doing the same with Louis L'Amour.

Not that any of those books became my favorites, though some are in the running... but rather just the fun of immersing myself in those two worlds. Also - with both I could get thru a book in a day. When I was reading those books I was mostly driving tractor in the fields.... long days, up and down, from before sunup to after sunset, 7 days a week. Yes, you can read while driving tractor... well, you can if you're a good tractor driver. laughing smiley

I became so engrossed in those books that when I set them down, for whatever reason, it would take me a while to exit that world and enter mine. laughing smiley

I don't read nearly as much as I used too.. not even close. These days I get thru maybe 2 books a month... maybe 3. Back then I easily read 3 per week and often more. - JamesJM
