We stopped doing the traditional Thanksgiving thing about 4 years ago. I've told my kids I'm done cooking Thanksgiving dinner and then a month later, doing the same thing all over again for Christmas. Food is expensive (it was $16 for 4 pork steaks and over $15 for 3 1/2 pounds of ground chuck). It's ME spending the money, and it's ME preparing all the food. I'll be 70 next month and I tell ya... I don't always feel like going through the trouble like I used to. Besides, my grown kids don't cook anything (neither of them can cook) and never ask if they can bring anything or help in any way. So, my Thanksgiving mantra has become "you go do you and we'll do the same". Frank and I eat what WE want, we watch NFL football all day, and don't worry about anybody else. Today Frank and I are having Super Nachos, BBQ pork steaks, pasta salad, coleslaw, and 7-Up pound cake. Works for us.
Christmas is a different story. I've been working on the menu for the past two weeks.
Whatever your traditions are, and however you plan to observe it.... I hope it's filled with family, friends, good eatin', and lots of love!
