VERY disappointed! I still recall my Brother and I going in his old red Datsun pick up truck. We arrived at the Orange Park Mall Theater THREE hours early to get in line. I was 12 and in the 7th grade. My Brother was 18. It was Dec 1979. The opening seen with the three Klingon ships being attacked??? Man! We were giddy with excitement. It was exciting to, one by one, see the original crew and of course, the Starship Enterprise. But after that, the movie came to a boring crawl. We left the Theater with a "Meh." attitude. 10-11 years later, I recall my Brother saying how it grew on him and he liked it more. But I was still.....MEH. Fast forward to 6-7 years ago....I watched it and it started to hit me that it was not that bad. I watched it again today and thought.....What a classic!
I guess it's because so many of the original cast have passed away. That, combined with the nostalgia of Star Trek itself and the fun trip my Brother and I took to the mall almost 41 years ago. It's interesting how a movie I thought was so boring has grown on me so much.
