Teams in 2019 were averaging 30K to 35K per game. Now the best is no more than 20K.
Is that from lack of interest or continued seating restrictions?
I didn't look at broadcast numbers.
Stadiums have capped the number of fans who could attend games in person this season. They have opened up slowly but have been increasing little by little (10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, etc) but I don't believe any are opened yet to full capacity although it's coming. I know here in St Louis, Busch Stadium is opening up to full capacity on June 14. Pre-pandemic, Bush Stadium averaged around 40,000 per game. This year, they've averaged about 15,000 but that's all the seats they were selling. That will change in a couple of weeks.
In terms of the quality of play... I only catch Cardinals baseball so I only see the Cardinals and whoever they're playing. Cardinals fundamentals SUCK. We walk more players than any other team in the MLB. We are inconsistent as all get out. Our starters are inconsistent and our bull pen is so-so. We've got a few bright spots (O'Neill, Edman) but overall, we're just an average team. I'll be shocked if we make the playoffs. Last Thursday we were in 1st place in our division. Now we're in 3rd. We're playing the Cincinnati Reds right now and are about to lose our 4th game in a row. Man, they're hard to watch sometimes.
