I like to think that I was the one that got them to start adding defensive stats. 
I wrote a letter to them once asking that they begin adding defensive stats and I actually got a reply from them saying they thought it was a great idea and thanked me for my input. The very next season:
You got it, defensive stats. No where near as thorough as today but it was still great.
