The gun was stowed in flight. I did get to toy with it on the ground a bit. I tell ya... I gained a HUUUUUGE admiration for those guys in the back seats who had to focus on taking out nimble Japanese Zeros while the SBD was rocking and rolling. We did two dives from about 8,000 feet down to about 700 feet over a farm field and then turned sharply. I could feel myself wanting to float out of the seat or feel like I'm being mashed into the plane. I know those guys, Pilots too were EXHAUSTED after missions.
