So i just re-watched (for probably the 20th time) my favorite Western "The Big Country (1958)". Free on youtube this month. And there is a scene in the movie where Gregory Peck tries to ride a horse called Old Thunder and get bucked off like a dozen times. The stunt man did such an amazing job in that scene I had to look him up and found out the stunt man was none other then Slim Pickens! Turns out the horse used in the scene was owned by Pickens and he didn't want anyone else riding it. I guess early in his career he did a lot of stunt work.
