I was diagnosed with high blood pressure about 25 years ago. High blood pressure runs on my dad's side of the family. His mom had it, my dad had it, I think he had some aunts and uncles who had it, my younger brother has it, and I have it.
After my high blood pressure was diagnosed, it took a few years and switching meds a few times to finally find the right combination of meds that lowered my BP to an acceptable level. My blood pressure now is like 105/60 and it's been in a very good range for a number of years now. It's nowhere near "dangerous" or "alarming anymore. I have tried to taper off some of my meds a few times but every time I've tried, it ends up not being a good idea. I have accepted the fact that the reason my BP is good is because of the combination of meds I take.
