Anybody know anything about palm trees?

I got an extremely sick Christmas Palm.. Dunno what's wrong with it.. I potted it October 23rd, so I've had it less than two months.. Brown spots all over the leaves and leaves are just dry and brittle.. not from underwatering, I know.. I've read overwatering can cause that, but I have good drainage in the pot.. Was getting direct sunlight for 5-6 hours a day.. I'm thinking infection, but don't know what to do about it..
