LOL Last year, my Wife kept seeing the Balsam Hill ads during commercials and cleverly WITHIN Hallmark Christmas flicks. Well....She bought a tree. It was $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ !!!!!!! But, I have to admit, an OUTSTANDING artificial tree.
I bought a Balsam Hill Christmas Tree in 2010. They must have the corner market on providing holiday decorations for television studio sets cause I kept seeing them all over tv on talk shows (like Oprah and Ellen) so I finally broke down and bought one thinking mine would, of course, look like the ones I'd seen on tv. The cost of my tree was $619. I was disappointed when I pulled it out of the box. It was on ok tree, in my opinion, NOT great, not wonderful... NOT "top of the line" the way they try to sell it. It really didn't look much better than my old $150 tree I bought years ago at Walmart and gave to my daughter. It never did look full no matter how much I fluffed using the white gloves they sent with the tree. I watched videos on YouTube... you name it. It never looked that good. Then in 2017 some of the prelit strings went out and NOTHING I did would restore them, not replacing bulbs, fuses, etc. I bought new strings from Balsam Hill but removing the old strings from the tree and trying to restring the new was a b*tch. I finally decided 1) prelit trees are wonderful.... until one of the strings goes out. Then they are practically worthless. 2) Balsam Hill trees are way over-priced and not worth the money. Their customer service isn't the greatest either. I was so disgusted with my Balsam Hill tree and the light situation just made it worse that I trashed it. I went online, looked high and low and finally found an unlit 7 1/2 foot King of Christmas Tree that I got at 50% the cost because the company was late sending it to me and they slashed the price to compensate me for the inconvenience. I decided I'd much rather deal with stringing lights myself. That way I can control how many, the type, the color, the movement, and replacing a string that goes out is a piece o'cake compared to the crap you go through when it happens on a pre-lit tree. I will never, EVER own a pre-lit tree again. The tree I have now actually looks way better than the Balsam Hill tree and cost me about 1/3 what I paid for the BH tree. I am so SO much happier with it. When people ask me about Balsam Hill... I say "save your money and you can find a nice tree somewhere else". Speaking from experience.
