First of all we have seen on this coast where I live there is an increase. But I don't think it is because of of protections. IMO its -as the article points out- juveniles tend to stick around as long as they can to warmer water. The water today is much warmer than this time last year. This phenomenon has been increasing for a decade or so as the water has continued to warm from our climate changes. As a side note I have yet to be aware of any attacks by these juveniles and as yet I have yet to come face to face with them but then again my diving is far away from the shorelines where they congregate along with the surfers.
