But as lead guitar player I think you have the same problem I have... may be be true for rhythm and bass as well... I'd have to think about.... but there is 'bleed over'...
What I mean is going into a break, or fill, there is nearly also some 'break' with the basic rhythm... THAT is the hard part. Usually I switch up beats when the lead guitar player goes into his lead... if I'm singing the song it means I often 'lead' into the 'lead'... if that makes since, and this while still singing the last words before the lead begins. HARD TO DO.
So... I've tried to 'learn to do it'... tried leaving it out and just staying with the beat until the lead actually begins... neither works well for me, that takes talent.
