I suspect this is analogous to the "Cinderella" teams that get hot in the NCAA Tournament. Typically, though, Cinderella reverts back to pumpkin-status the closer they get to the ring.
I believe that this was a primary concern of top MLB teams heading into the playoffs (i.e. facing a mediocre team that gets hot at the right time).
But the Lakers are a VERY tough team to beat. Let's see how things go tonight, though.
