I live about 45 minutes from Saratoga Race Course. From Wiki: "Opened in 1863, it is often considered to be the oldest major sporting venue of any kind in the country..." [en.wikipedia.org]

It's pretty much the only horse track but from what I understand it's a lot different from most tracks. Lots of picnic tables and TVs on the grounds make it attractive to more that the hard-core horse player.

edit: the track is only open 40 days a year, 5 days a week from July 11 thru Labor Day. They aren't allowing fans this year, but last year they drew 1,056,000 fans.
